A few days in the life of a dreamer…

So I had an unexpectedly-amazing-event filled weekend! And guess who made special appearances all weekend long? None other than “The Open Book” himself. ;-)

FRIDAY: After work I celebrated my dad’s 70th birthday over dinner with the fam (and The Open Book tagged along).  After which we continued the celebration as we headed to a club where I had to send back a nasty drink twice, endured whackness, fought off harassment, ended up with a $57 bar tab, and tried to keep my composure when I ran into a guy I used to be interested in until he abruptly stopped calling (ironically, I run into this guy very often and we’re cordial but I think it’s so funny that we never discussed wth happened and it’s never awkward when we run into each other…hmm)–all in the name of celebrating a friend’s 25th.  I hope he had fun!

SATURDAY: Unfortunately I had to work, but thankfully they were having a car wash in my work area so Piper (my car) got a much needed bath!  After work I enjoyed a mini fiesta pool party and finished swimming just in time before the rain came.  Then off to get jazzy and hit up yet another whack club that was too packed and hot to actually have fun, but at least this time the drinks were good  the 1st time around. LOL

SUNDAY: Had to get my praise on! ;-) After church I had rehearsal for “For Colored Girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf” by Ntozake Shange.  We had our first rehearsal with our choreographer and it was a blast (although none of us were aware she would be present at this particular rehearsal so some of us were struggling and trying not to expose ourselves in our skirts and dresses).  While I was at rehearsal, The Open Book was kicking it with my fam at a cookout at my sister’s house, so after rehearsal I rushed to go rescue him from the madness; after which we went to go see “Dance Flick” at the movies (I’ll review this in a later post).

MONDAY: Ah! I love long weekends! I got to sleep in a lot later than usual, hung out at the mall with old friends and my gorgeous God daughter, then met back up with (guess who?) The Open Book–this time instead of dragging him around all my people, we flipped the script and I got to hang with his friends.  Aside from the mosquito bites, dry chicken, and spurts of rain, I had a great time laughing and acting a fool along with them.  We ended the night playing a game called Apples to Apples–a game where the “gift of gab” (or bullsh*ttin as I like to call it) comes in handy.

TUESDAY: Back to work! Amongst the long to do list, I got a beautiful surprise in the form of flowers and a balloon from The Open Book–for no special occasion
